Music
and Lighting - atmosphere is important. There is
a lot to be said for appropriate music and lighting creating
the right mood at the function.
Be
prepared - Dont be in the kitchen when your
guests arrive. If you can carry out any preparations the day
before your function take advantage of that time to avoid
rushing things on the day.
Guests
Arrival - Ensure that your guests are well received
and smile as you greet each of your guests. Place some light
snacks around the party area such as cheese and crackers with
dips, etc. This is a great way to make your guests feel comfortable
as the party gets started.
Beverages
- It is always a nice touch to offer your guests
something to drink when they arrive. If it is a BYO function
show your guests to glassware and have a designated spot for
the drinks they bring with them.
Entertainment
- Think
of a novel idea which will add an element of fun to your function.
You can hire a professional act such as a singing telegram
or include an activity to encourage your guests to interact,
the opportunities are endless. For a large function such as
a wedding a disposable camera on each table for guests to
use is a great way for you to look back and see what happened
while you werent looking. This way you will have memories
which are immortalized forever and also available to your
guests after the event. Another idea is to include Post-it
Notes with the camera or even as an extra for your own camera
for smaller functions. Guests can write funny captions that
relate to the moment that can be included in an album once
the photos are developed.
